Communications

What is communications?

The Communications Department maintains the image of the Ohio River Valley in the press and on social media.  You’ll see our Communications Department escorting press guests around at conventions and posting to the ORV social media accounts.

Hi, my name is Kate Majidzadeh and I’m a senior at Liberty High School, and I’m taking classes at OSU this year! I love participating in theatre and computer programming. I’m so excited to be the Director of Communications for the ORV this year, and to work with the rest of cabinet to help JSA become more connected.

Deputy Director of Communications

Melinda Xia

Hello everyone! My name is Melinda Xia, and I am incredibly thrilled to be working alongside the hard working individuals on cabinet this upcoming year. I look to strengthen communication aspects of JSA through our department’s work, and collaborative efforts with all departments. Outside of cabinet, I serve as my chapter’s Secretary of State where I focus on promotion and expansion. You can also find me constantly talking about my love for JSA, talking with friends from JSA, and promoting our organization because I strongly believe in the mission and values pursued by the Junior State of America.

For JSA this year, I hope to make communication and social media as efficient and effective as possible and provide over all insight for the improvement of the communications department. Outside of JSA, I enjoy camping, shooting sports, hiking, botany, and canoeing. I love pretty much any outdoor activity. I play water polo and swim for my school and serve as the class treasurer.

      Hi Cole,

Thank you so much for your interest in JSA and for reaching out to us about this! I apologize for the late reply. West Virginia is a part of the ORV, so your best bet for setting up a chapter at your high school is by contacting our Director of Expansion, Griffin Noe. His email is gnoe@orv.jsa.org .
I strongly urge you to go through the steps to set up a JSA chapter at your school. JSA is an incredible experience and it has helped me and so many others earn leadership experience, become better at public speaking, and meet some pretty great people. It will be one of the best choices of your life.

      Best,
      Kate Majidzadeh
      ORV Director of Technology
